About the tool
Majestic SEO is one of the few companies who have tried to build their own index of the web, and Majestic uses their index for link related purposes only. Majestic SEO also offers a few free tools, but a premium membership will give you much more link data. The index is about 1.7 trln unique URLs big, but more importantly, Majestic SEO refreshes their index every four weeks or so, making it relatively up-to-date.
Majestic SEO offers many options to filter and analyze their data. Standard information, such as anchor text, top linking domains, IP addresses, TLDs and important pages can be checked within a few clicks. For further analysis, you can apply additional filters, for example to filter out all low quality websites or links to pages with an affiliate ID.
You can check the link information of your own website for free, after you have verified your website in a similar way to Google Webmaster Tools. For other websites, you’ll need a paid subscription. The price of a Majestic SEO subscription starts at £ 9.99/ month (about $15), and goes up to £ 250.00/ month, depending on how many data you need or want. A paid subscription also allows you to get much more out of Majestic’s free tools.

My Opinion
I’m a big fan of Majestic SEO and the huge amount of link data they provide. Since none of the search engines are providing all their link data, this is about as close as you can get to creating a complete link map of the web. All the filters and options allow you to dig deep into the data, to find interesting link targets, or anything else you might be looking for.
Majestic SEO could (still) improve a bit on the user interface side, but I know that this is quite high on their to-do list. Also, better filtering and sorting options could lead to an even better tool than Majestic SEO already is.
