Although this article is like a thousand years old (it’s from 2002), it still contains a bucket load of valuable information. I shouldn’t use strategies like ”Host your own Web Ring’ anymore, but you can always check out Aaron Wall’s 2006 version.

The Professional’s Guide to Link Building (SEOmoz)
This 40 page document discusses around 50 link building strategies, but unfortunately it isn’t free. However, especially when you’re new to link building, it’s really worth the $29 (or even the $399/year).

The ultimate guide to Link Baiting & SMM (Andy Hagans)
Great info, tips and links about Link Baiting from the master himself. If you don’t know what Link Baiting is, or how you can use SMM to get more links/ traffic, go read this article. Afterwards, you’ll probably add Link Baiting to your corporate strategy.

Want absolutes? Linking ain’t that easy! (Eric Ward)
Got clients that want a guaranteed number of links? Does your boss want you to buy links purely based on PageRank? Print out this article and hand it over. Excellent read.

9 tips for getting started with Link Building (Eric Enge, SEW)
While this article doesn’t offer a lot of insights that aren’t being mentioned in other articles, it does contain at least 1 valuable tip. Check out this article, especially #9.

66 ways to build links in 2007 (Brandon Hopkins)
This article contains 66 link building strategies and also about 150 links to other interesting articles. A great way to fill every rainy afternoon. Most of the link building strategies Brandon mentioned in his article will work in 2008 as well. And probably also in 2009 and 2010.

12 types of links and how to get them (Stuntdubl)
Discusses twelve different types of links and also shows how you can obtain those types of links or mix them up in your Link Building strategy.

RAT Link Value Checklist (Peter van der Graaf)
Every valuable link offers Relevant Authority Transfer or RAT. Peter discusses which factors are important and how much effort you should make to get a certain link.
