Well I guess the truth is cruel for Indians out there especially those that are hard to swallow the truth.Indians live mainly in poverty and this makes them willing to do cheap work and this makes me sad.

Like Rebecca says, link builders from India typically work for wages that are *much* lower than those charged by their colleagues in Western Europe and the U.S., so there is *very* little incentive for them to do serious research and provide top quality work...

In addition, they may well use automated tools that keep pushing (spammy) links with identical descriptions to the same set of spammy directories (etc.) over and again, thereby further reducing the remaining value (if any) of those directories.

IMO, things *really* tend to go amiss when they do link building for sites in (non-Indian) languages other than English.

Still, it is hard to explain to potential customers that they should expect to pay up to several hundred euro for a single link, when our Indian friends offer "packages" of a few hundred links for a dozen bucks... :-O

I do some work for overseas clients via oDesk (http://www.odesk.com), which is an international marketplace of information workers. There the large communities of linkbuilders seem to be in India and the Phillipines. There's lots of really startlingly bad quality work going on, it's true, but I think there's an explanation for that. Namely, these are folks working for extremely low wages, and they are being hired by shady companies who want to pay as little as possible. Within these communities, then, shady practices are the norm, and people learn from one another. Once they learn better strategies, they can raise their prices and it no longer matters what country they're in.

Google says India This country/territory sent 1,755 visits via 24 cities.

I agree that this is a touchy subject, and I also agree that it is not necessarily link building, as it could be link building content or interest. Nonetheless, it is an interesting piece of information. Thanks.

I've also experienced that "quality" and Indian link building just won't match.

A great little piece of research... and a touchy subject too. I have quite a bit of experience with India and one word that is almost never associated with their link building is "quality".

Outsourcing educates other countries...

I don't think this is a coincidence at all, all of the non-english-speaking SEO is India. No doubt.
