Link Building this Week (35.2008)
It looks like last week was the official week of in-depth content. Rae Hoffman showed how she would interview a potential new link developer, Jennifer Laycock created the four commandments of viral marketing and Loren Baker published a one hour (!) link building 101 video. So if you happen to have some spare time…
For some reason, lots of folks associate linkbait with targeting the Digg community with yet another piece of numbered content including images of cats, lightning and/ or women in bikini. That, however, is not necessarily linkbait. Linkbait involves creating content that stands out, developing useful tools or conducting research in not-so-ordinary ways. This doesn’t mean that numbered lists don’t work, btw ;)
And also:
- Will Critchlow shows how you can use your whole business to build links
- Angela Moore created the Link Development Decathlon
- Debra Mastaler took a look at “easy” and “economical” link building methods
- P.J. Fusco touched the good old subject of directories
- Michael Martinez listed several tips that SEOs don’t share with you
- Sage Lewis hits the nail on the head by explaining how link building is all about making connections

Like the new design, thanks for the link.
Once people discover that “pictures of cats” is a big keyword phrase, they think that posting a bunch of funny pictures will drive traffic. And perhaps it does, but that type of content site can be a challenge to monetize.
Enjoying your blog … will explore some more!
