Link Building this Month (06.2010)

“Link building is becoming more difficult lately. People don’t link out anymore and Twitter is polluting the link graph. Oh, and Google isn’t treating my links they way they should.” This seems to be the consensus on various blogs, forums and even Twitter, but I can’t say I agree with it.

Actually, I even think that link building has become more easy, and especially a lot more fun during the past few years. Sure, it can be different to build links to certain types of websites, and some industries are more polluted with bad links than the Gulf of Mexico currently is with oil, but this just asks for more creativity.

Thinking outside the box, evaluating success from the past, building relationships, or even thinking a bit past the usual tactics while avoiding the most common pitfalls can bring you quite far. In other words: there’s no such thing as advanced link building – it’s simply a mix between creativity, logical thinking and persistence (sometimes with a little bit of help).

You are right, to build links is now really easy. However, I seem to have a bit of an issue and I do not know to whom I can turn. So I am here on your blog. My questions is “How to make Google index my links quickly?” I am making articles that contain links, but it seems that Google misses them. I used social bookmarking, squidoo and the social networks, but still no result. Hope to get your answer :)

@Bob: Thanks :)

@Hugo & Richard: you’re both very welcome!

@Lyuben: In that case I’d advize you to read Leo Dimilo’s article – http://leodimilo.com/internetmarketingblog/why-building-links-are-important/

Wiep,

Your post got me thinking, again. There is definitely a need for out of the box thinking. Many times in link building we get stuck looking in the same places for link opportunities. Great resources as well.

I actually do think that linkbuilding has become harder, as the search engines get smarter and smarter in evaluating our backlinks.

It really is a shame that so many people are worried about linking out to some great content, just because they would lose some of their own “link juice”.

What would it be great if linking out to quality website, also helped your rankings. If links are like votes, why should you get a negative effect by voting?

Yes, twitter is a good site for link building but i like do not depend on only twitter and use different site as possible.
